Maritime training
Since around 1990, following a government decision, the responsibility for regulating how dangerous goods are handled, stored, and transported within ports was transferred to the State Ports Authority (Puertos del Estado). This responsibility was not assigned to the General Directorate of the Merchant Marine, which handles other maritime matters.
To this day, the professional training required to handle dangerous goods in ports is governed by Royal Decree 145/1989. This regulation outlines both the training content and the certification process for individuals working in this field.
The official qualification is called “Training for the Handling of Dangerous Goods for Dock or Terminal Operators.” In order to be valid, the certificate must be officially recognized and endorsed by the State Ports Authority.
STS is an accredited provider, authorized by Puertos del Estado, to deliver this professional training. The center offers:
These courses ensure that personnel working with dangerous goods in ports are trained to meet legal and safety standards.
