INFO ABOUT COURSE

OPITO BOSIET with EBS / CA-EBS

The BOSIET EBS (Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training) or BOSIET CA EBS (BOSIET Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System) course is crucial training for those wishing to work in the oil industry on offshore platforms or offshore vessels. This initial and essential certification has become a fundamental requirement to ensure the safety of workers in challenging and potentially dangerous offshore environments.

The BOSIET EBS or BOSIET CA EBS course is delivered by highly trained and experienced instructors who guide participants through practical scenarios and realistic emergency simulations. This allows students to gain confidence in their skills and be prepared to face real challenges in the offshore environment.

Target Audience

All personnel—whether new or returning—who are working or planning to work on offshore installations in the oil and gas industry where a Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CAEBS) is provided for offshore helicopter transport.

Prerequisites

There are no formal training prerequisites for this course. However, delegates must be at least 16 years old and have a good command of the English language.

In addition, delegates must meet one of the following medical requirements:

  • Hold a valid OGUK (or equivalent) medical certificate and a certificate of fitness for shallow water CAEBS training issued by a registered OGUK doctor
    OR
  • Possess a valid ENG 1 Seafarer Medical Fitness Certificate* (or equivalent)

*Please note: If the Medical Fitness Certificate includes any restrictions or conditions, the delegate must also provide a statement from a qualified registered practitioner confirming that the restriction is not due to a respiratory or ENT (ear, nose, throat) condition and that it is safe for the delegate to participate in shallow water CAEBS training.

Objective

The objective of this course is to provide all delegates with an initial level of knowledge and understanding of the basic offshore safety and emergency response procedures currently in practice on offshore installations in the UK sector of the North Sea.

Course Content

The BOSIET with CAEBS training covers the following areas:

Basic safety induction:

  • Identification of offshore hazards, the associated risks and current control measures in place
  • Identification of offshore safety regulations and understanding of basic safety management concepts

Helicopter travel:
