The Global Wind Organization (GWO) BST (Basic Safety Training) course is essential training for workers in the wind industry, both onshore and offshore. It is designed to provide participants with a solid foundation in safety and critical skills for working on wind farms. Target Audience

GWO BST Offshore training package will enable participants to support and care for themselves and others working in the Wind industry by possessing the knowledge and skills of first aid, safe working at heights, manual handling, fire awareness, sea survival and in case of an emergency, to be able to evacuate, rescue and provide appropriate first aid to casualties. The GWO Basic Safety Training is divided into the following five modules:

Prerequisites

In order to complete GWO Basic Safety Training (BST) Package, delegates must be WINDA registered before arriving for the course.

Course Content

Delegates completing a GWO Basic Safety Training (BST) Offshore Package will be able to;

  • Identify possible fire hazards within the wind industry and understand how to control and mitigate these hazards
  • Administer safe and effective first aid in a wind turbine industry in accordance with GWO
  • Correctly performing manual handling activities in the wind industry wind turbine environment
  • Demonstrate sea survival techniques and safe transfer between vessels and installations
  • Perform safe and comprehensive basic rescue from height in a remote turbine environment while meeting emergency response requirements for personnel new to the global wind industry
Exam

The course is a mix of both practical and theoretical sessions during which delegates will be required to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the course contents.

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a GWO Basic Safety Training certificate, valid for two years and recognized globally in the wind energy sector.
