INFO ABOUT COURSE
The BOSIET EBS (Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training) or BOSIET CA EBS (BOSIET Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System) course is crucial training for those wishing to work in the oil industry on offshore platforms or offshore vessels. This initial and essential certification has become a fundamental requirement to ensure the safety of workers in challenging and potentially dangerous offshore environments.
The BOSIET EBS or BOSIET CA EBS course is delivered by highly trained and experienced instructors who guide participants through practical scenarios and realistic emergency simulations. This allows students to gain confidence in their skills and be prepared to face real challenges in the offshore environment.
All personnel who are, or could be, working in an environment that may become contaminated by hydrogen sulphide (H₂S) gas.
There are no formal training prerequisites for this course. However, delegates must be at least 16 years old.
Please note: Training activities include physically demanding and potentially stressful elements. It is the responsibility of the delegate and/or sponsoring company to declare any known current or pre-existing medical conditions that could affect participation. Where doubt exists, the delegate should be referred to a qualified medical officer.
The objective of this course is to provide delegates with the basic knowledge and practical skills required to understand the hazards of H₂S gas and to respond safely and effectively in the event of an H₂S-related incident.
The OPITO-approved Basic H₂S Training covers the following areas:
Delegates will be assessed against the learning outcomes defined by the OPITO Basic H₂S Training Standard. Assessment includes both theoretical knowledge and practical demonstration of safe emergency response actions.
Upon successful completion of the course, delegates will be awarded an OPITO-approved Basic H₂S Training certificate.
Certification is valid for 2 years. The interval between the initial training and further assessment may be determined by the employing company.
Please note: Some companies may require refresher training more frequently than OPITO’s 2-year validity. In such cases, the certificate will still remain valid in the OPITO central register for the full 2-year period.
