INFO ABOUT COURSE
The BOSIET EBS (Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training) or BOSIET CA EBS (BOSIET Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System) course is crucial training for those wishing to work in the oil industry on offshore platforms or offshore vessels. This initial and essential certification has become a fundamental requirement to ensure the safety of workers in challenging and potentially dangerous offshore environments.
The BOSIET EBS or BOSIET CA EBS course is delivered by highly trained and experienced instructors who guide participants through practical scenarios and realistic emergency simulations. This allows students to gain confidence in their skills and be prepared to face real challenges in the offshore environment.
All personnel who are issued with a Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS) while travelling to work by helicopter and may be required to use a CA-EBS in the event of an emergency.
There are no formal training prerequisites for this course. However, delegates must be at least 16 years old and have a good command of the English language.
Please note: Training activities include physically demanding and potentially stressful elements. It is the responsibility of the delegate and/or sponsoring company to declare any known current or pre-existing medical conditions that could affect participation. Where doubt exists, the delegate should be referred to a qualified medical officer.
Due to the practical nature of the training, which may involve physically demanding and potentially stressful elements, all delegates must be medically fit to participate fully. Therefore, prior to participating in practical exercises, learners must either:
The OPITO-approved centre will maintain a record of the learner’s declaration of fitness and provide information about the type of physical activities involved. Responsibility for declaring any pre-existing medical conditions lies with the delegate and/or the sponsoring company. Where doubt exists, medical clearance may be required.
The objective of this course is to ensure that delegates gain the knowledge and practical understanding of the hazards, properties and correct use of the CA-EBS, as well as the emergency response actions required should deployment be necessary during helicopter transport.
The OPITO-approved CA-EBS Initial Deployment Training covers the following areas:
Delegates will be assessed against the outcomes specified in the OPITO CA-EBS Initial Deployment Training Standard. Assessment includes both theoretical knowledge and practical demonstration.
Upon successful completion of the course, delegates will be awarded an OPITO-approved Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS) Initial Deployment Training certificate.
There is no expiry date for this certificate. However, it is the responsibility of the employing company to determine ongoing validity and revalidation requirements. It is recommended that refresher training be aligned with the OPITO Further Offshore Emergency Training (FOET) with CA-EBS when delegates renew their FOET or BOSIET certification, to ensure ongoing competence.
