The HUET (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training) course is essential training for people working in maritime environments, especially in the offshore industry. This course focuses on teaching participants the skills and techniques necessary to survive in the event of an emergency landing of a helicopter on the water and to perform a safe evacuation from the submerged aircraft.

This course is for personnel who have had little or no training and/or experience in rigging and lifting operations and wish to gain an Industry-recognised introductory certificate in rigging and lifting operations prior to undertaking further supervised workplace training.

An OPITO-approved Rigger Initial Training course is the first stage of OPITO’s route to competence certification and reassessment for rigging personnel. The OPITO-approved Rigger Initial Training course provides knowledge of the principles that support the correct slinging of different types of loads. Delegates will learn to inspect and use rigging and all associated equipment including the safety precautions which must be taken.
By the end of the assessment, the delegate will have demonstrated the ability to;
Learners will be assessed against the outcomes specified in accordance with the assessment guidance detailed in each unit. If a learner is unsuccessful then they will be required to retake the Rigger initial training programme.
